Workplace Issues

Compared to other countries, Americans spend more hours at work on a daily basis, take less vacation time, and retire later than virtually everywhere else in the world. The average person spends far more waking hours at work then at home. Surveys of workers show very high levels of burnout, feeling overworked and underpaid, poor work life balance, unrealistic expectations, changes in administration, lack of recognition, harassment, discrimination, boredom, lack of autonomy, pointless meetings, excessive emails, not enough training, absent or inconsistent support, few advancement opportunities, and lack of meaning in one’s day to day responsibilities.

These can contribute to a variety of physical and emotional consequences such as decreased immune functioning, feeling tired, lethargic and apathetic, anxious, and hopeless and depressed. It can also lead to decreased productivity and increased absenteeism.

We participate with many employee assistance programs (EAP’s) which is a very common but not well known benefit in addition to your health insurance. You may be eligible for free sessions with a therapist to help work through some of these feelings and stressors, or any other life matters. Please reach out today to see if we can help!
