
Clinical Psychologist
Elie Cohen is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York, New Jersey and Florida. He earned his PhD from Hofstra University where he received extensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, with a focus on anxiety and depression. He has also received advanced postdoctoral training in Gottman Method couples counseling. Elie has trained and worked in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health clinics, student counseling centers, inpatient state psychiatric hospitals, inpatient private hospitals, intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs, as well as various skilled nursing homes. He also provides clinical supervision and teaches at both the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, Elie serves as Deputy Chair of the psychology department at Touro College School for Lifelong Education and coordinates accommodations for students with disabilities. He also consults with nursing home and assisted living facilities with regards to maximizing the mental health of residents. Elie currently provides psychoeducational and psychological testing at ICAN and oversees clinical activities as well. Although he is currently not taking on new psychotherapy clients, he is happy to consult with you and help find the perfect match for your needs. Some of his areas of interest are: evidence-based psychotherapies, mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches such as ACT, anxiety in all its forms, individuals with disabilities and learning difference, alternative lifestyles, trauma, identity, adjustment to life transitions, as well as challenges faced by aging individuals. Elie believes strongly that every individual can find creative ways to live richly and meaningfully in line with their values.
