Coronavirus Update

It is no understatement to say that much of our day to day lives have been significantly disrupted by this recent public health situation. Here at ICAN, we have been diligently working on solutions to ensure continuity of care, and to provide a resource to community members who can use additional support at this unusual time. We have been closely monitoring the rapidly changing federal and local health measures as well as expansions in tele-therapy services that are now being allowed by insurance companies. Although we have chosen to close our offices to in-person sessions, we remain open and available for tele-therapy and other creative treatment modalities as appropriate. Existing clients, please reach out to figure out a plan for the time being. Potential new clients, please contact us to discuss options for starting therapy.

Here are some tips to cope with this unusual time:
Keep as much structure as possible. Don’t slack off on things like showering, shaving, getting dressed, tooth brushing etc just because you won’t be interacting with people outside the home for a while.
Try to keep up with your usual sleep schedule and don’t take excessive naps.
Focus on the opportunities to spend extra time bonding with family.
Social distancing doesn’t mean you are alone. Remember you can use things like FaceTime, Skype, and zoom to have virtual get togethers and check one with friends and family members.
Try to use extra time on starting a hobby or catching up on projects you’ve put off forever.
Remember that is also ok to binge on Netflix once in a while!
Remember that it is ok to feel your feelings. They are valid.

In the meantime, remember to wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and stay 6 ft away from people outside.
